Job Description:

Responsibilities include:

  • Performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping and receiving duties.
  • Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting.
  • Receives incoming materials or prepares materials for shipment.
  • (Un)Packs or (un)wraps items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Verifies quantity, weight, and conformance of materials to stated identifications; logs receipt of items on system, processes freight bills, packing sheets, and other documents; reports materials shipped and bills of lading; posts weight and shipping charges and routes merchandise to proper domestic and international destinations.
  • Packs products or parts into shipping cartons as described on order forms/instruction sheets.
  • Provide accurate shipping quotes.
  • Closes, seals, and accurately labels cartons for shipping.
  • Post weight and shipping charges.
  • Receives all incoming materials and prepares products and other materials for shipment using freight bills.
  • Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Maintaining inventory integrity by performing cycle count activities
  • Maintaining accurate records of shipments, receipts, and inventory levels using electronic systems or paperwork as appropriate.
  • Loading palletized orders onto trucks
  • Unloading trucks by use of fork-truck or hoist
  • Check product against purchase order.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to other employees.

 
Minimum Requirements

  •  2+ years of industrial truck (Forklift) experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment (preferred)
  • Intermediate computer knowledge/skill in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel)
  • Basic knowledge and skills in using Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems, setting up Over the Road shipments (OTR), Bill of Lading (BOL), or using UPS/FEDEX systems.
  • Physical ability to bend and lift, loading and unloading packages, and perform tasks that involve alternately sitting and standing)
  • Must be able to operate forklift and/or overhead crane.
  • Must be able to lift to thirty pounds two-thirds of the time and up to fifty pounds one-third of the time.


Nice to Have

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Previous experience/knowledge in Shipping/Receiving systems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Basic knowledge of freight rates and discount systems is highly desirable.
  • Quick learner
