A South Korean HS-WIM solution, developed by a local ITS integrator using Intercomp’s Strain Gauge Strip Sensors, underwent rigorous testing at a designated location in Chungcheongnam-do.

The evaluation was conducted in accordance with the ITS Performance Evaluation Standards, and certified by the Korean Intelligent Transportation Systems Association, a performance evaluation agency designated by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT). This recognition affirms the HS-WIM system’s reliability and superior performance for vehicle overload control.

Following certification, MOLIT selected the HS-WIM solution for deployment at the DAESAN  Checkpoint in Chungcheongnam-do. This checkpoint, part of National Highway 32, will monitor four lanes and identify overloaded vehicles. The region’s increasing traffic calls for robust systems to protect road safety and preserve infrastructure, making this installation a crucial initiative.

Intercomp’s Strain Gauge Strip Sensors offer a plethora of benefits over competitors. The sensors provide reliable WIM data even overlong periods, resulting in lower operating costs. The sensors also give consistent measurements regardless of a vehicle’s position, leading to more accurate weight readings.
