The Ohio State Highway Patrol has experienced a number of benefits from using the LTR788™ scales. The scales solved their need for both weight enforcement and individual tire weight ratings. Additionally, inspectors are now able to identify and correct unequal weight distribution within a dual tire configuration by setting the air pressures to properly load tires.

The LTR788™ is currently the only tool available to enforce FMCSA Regulation 393.75.
The LTR788™ is battery-operated and features a digital display and solar panel
Proper load distribution through load balancing increases safety by reducing issues related to uneven wear, tire blow out and accidents involving overturned trucks. If a tire is over its tire weight rating, the vehicle is technically out of service. The LTR788™ is identifying vehicles that are unsafe to drive on public roads. This information can only be known by weighing tire individually.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol uses Intercomp’s LTR788™ Dual Wheel Load Scales for both weight enforcement and individual tire weight ratings. The LTR788™ scales provide inspectors with individual tire weights, allowing for individual tire rating compliance verification. Tire loading and tire conditions impact fuel economy and braking distance, and tire failure can lead to accidents and debris on roads.

With the LTR788™ Dual Wheel Load Scales, Ohio State Highway Patrol vehicle inspectors identify unequal weight distribution within a dual wheel with one portable digital scale. The information provided by the LTR788™ scale enables them to set, educate, and enforce safety standards which may lead to new efficiency standards within private industries to regulate and adjust weights on each tire.
