AerSale Class 4 MRO Facility Selects Intercomp Low-Profile Scales for Weight and Balance Operations photo
Minneapolis, MN – July 9th, 2020 – Intercomp, the world’s leading manufacturer of aircraft scales, announced that AerSale has completed installation and training on Intercomp’s AC60-LP™ scale system at their Goodyear Aircraft and Engine MRO Operations Center. One of just a few domestic MRO facilities with an FAA Class 4 rating, the 366,000-square-foot Goodyear, Arizona complex is equipped to perform maintenance and overhaul of large transport and widebody category aircraft.

“The high capacity, dependability and versatility of the AC60-LP™ scale system is an ideal fit for the needs of AerSale’s Goodyear MRO,” said Pat McIntyre, Director of Weight and Balance Training at Intercomp. “As a Class 4 facility, the technicians need a robust, low-profile solution that can quickly and efficiently handle a variety of airframes, ranging from the B737 to the A380. With a service capacity of up to 150 aircraft at Goodyear, the portability and large platform size of the AC60-LP™ was made for demanding requirements like these, and the strain gauge technology offers the accuracy and uptime needed for their complex work environment.”

The Goodyear Operations Center offers HMVs, engine removal and reinstallation, modifications and reconfigurations, full tear-down and cargo conversions. Compared to routine aircraft weight and balance intervals, the frequency for weighing and balancing in these heavy operational demands called for the most robust, portable scale system that could handle varied applications reliably and seamlessly.

Beyond its industry-leading accuracy and repeatability, Intercomp’s solid-state load cell technology eliminates scale warm-up time, mitigates side loads and removes the need for centering of tires on the active weighing platform. McIntyre noted the timesaving advantages, in contrast to hydraulic piezo-sensing scales, were a factor in AerSale’s decision. “In the end, the AC60-LP™ was selected for its uptime and accuracy, versatility across multiple aircraft, the quality of our training, software and local calibration support, as well as Intercomp’s reputation as the equipment most widely used by airlines, MROs, and airframe manufacturers in the world,” said McIntyre.
