Minneapolis, MN –Intercomp is pleased to announce the installation of high-capacity AC60-LP low profile platform scale systems for weight and balance operations with SIA Engineering Company (SIAEC).  With facilities serving Airbus and Boeing narrow and widebody aircraft, SIAEC provides maintenance and overhaul, and operates scales for weight and balance operations.

SIAEC had purchased piezo-electric hydraulically actuated scales shortly before acquisition of Intercomp scales.  However, they found piezo-sensing hydraulic load sensing technology required frequent scale repairs with long lead times.  For performance, repeatability was difficult to achieve with hydraulic scales, requiring multiple weighings and increased aircraft down times.  Though aircraft platform scales are expected to operate for more than a decade, SIAEC chose to move back to Intercomp scales within 3 years of experience with alternatives.

“We work with airlines and MROs throughout the world, and appreciate bringing SIAEC back to our technology.” states Jon Arnold, Market Specialist.  Based on strain gauge technology, which is widely recognized as the most accurate means to measure large loads, Intercomp scales incorporate fully-electronic, solid state components.  Arnold continues, “The AC60-LP scale uses proven shear beam technology, incorporating temperature compensation and mitigating side loads, resulting in accurate and repeatable measurements for users with decades of usable lifetime.  This leads to rapid and accurate weighings, saving customers valuable time and effort.”

Intercomp is the leading provider of weighing equipment for airlines, MRO’s, business aviation, and military aviation, and has been building weighing products for over 40 years.  Aircraft scales come standard as certified intrinsically safe, as internationally required for use in hazardous environments including aircraft hangars.
