As federal infrastructure investment continues to accelerate, Intercomp, a leading American manufacturer of weighing and measurement solutions for government transportation projects including Weigh-In-Motion and static scales used in pre-selection, data collection and enforcement, is reaffirming its commitment to full compliance with the Build America, Buy America Act (BABA).The Build America, Buy America Act, enacted as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, strengthens domestic sourcing requirements for federally funded infrastructure projects. BABA mandates that iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in these projects are produced in the United States. The goal is to bolster American manufacturing, strengthen supply chains, and ensure taxpayer-funded projects support domestic industry.
Recent updates from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) signal important milestones for manufacturers and project stakeholders. Beginning in October 2025, new “final assembly” requirements had taken effect, requiring that the final manufacturing processes for applicable products occur within the United States. By October 2026, manufactured products must also meet a minimum of 55% domestic content threshold.
Intercomp is uniquely positioned to meet and exceed these requirements. As a U.S.-based manufacturer of scales and weighing systems, Intercomp designs, engineers, and assembles its products domestically, ensuring alignment with both current and upcoming BABA standards.
“Our commitment to American manufacturing has always been at the core of what we do. As BABA requirements evolve, our customers can be confident that Intercomp products will continue to meet federal compliance standards while delivering the accuracy, reliability, and performance they depend on,” said Eric Peterson, Vice President of Intercomp.
Intercomp’s proactive approach includes ongoing evaluation of its supply chain, strategic investment in domestic production capabilities, and close monitoring of federal guidance to ensure continued compliance as regulations evolve. As infrastructure projects ramp up across the country, Intercomp stands ready to support contractors, engineers, and government agencies with compliant, high-quality weighing solutions proudly made in the USA.
