High-Power Offering Expands Intercomp Shock Dynamometer Family photo
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Minneapolis, MN – Intercomp is pleased to announce the addition of an 8hp Variable Speed Shock Dyno to its family of shock dynamometers. The new model, which builds on the success of the 3hp Variable- and High-Speed Shock Dynos, is the most recent step in Intercomp’s more than 15-year history of building high-quality racing products and will benefit shock manufacturers, shock builders and racers with high-force shocks. Applications that utilize these type of shocks include off-road vehicles, rally racing, select dirt and asphalt oval cars, and snowmobiles.

The dyno can accommodate most shocks up to 40 inches long when fully extended. An adjustable Type K Infrared Thermocouple Sensor monitors shock temperature throughout testing, allowing the user to get a better idea of how the part will perform under race-like conditions. The internal motor, which requires three-phase, 220-volt power, can run the shock through its paces at any speed, from 0.5 to 40 inches/second. Stroke is also adjustable to 0.5″, 1.0″, 1.5″, or 2″ distances, giving the ability to test in several configurations.

Shocks mount in the dyno using a Scotch Yoke system, and the dyno connects to the included laptop PC via USB. While any computer that runs a modern Windows operating system is compatible with the dyno and software, the included laptop decreases the chance of compatibility problems.
Intercomp’s Shock Analysis Software allows manufacturers and racers to save tests for future analysis, with the ability to overlay up to 20 graphs at one time. The software can independently display force, distance, temperature and pressure, all in a variety of units during a test. In addition, the software allows users to view seal drag, rod pressures, live data and graphing, real-time PVP (Peak Velocity Pick Off) and CVP (Constant Velocity Pick Off) for each velocity interval, and viewable data points at 0.1″, 0.5″, 1.0″ or 2.0″ measurements.

Intercomp’s new 8hp Variable Speed Shock Dyno gives shock manufacturers, shock builders and racers the ability to run high-force shocks through their paces so that problems are spotted, and fixed, prior to usage.
