Intercomp Presents WIM Technology to China Conference of Road Administration

Wuhan, China – Intercomp and its business partner in China presented on dynamic strain gauge sensors and offered a global perspective of Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) installations around the globe at the 3rd Conference of Road Administration in China held October 31-November 2 in Wuhan China. The presentation, given by Eric Peterson, Intercomp Vice President, focused on sensor technology, recent OIML R134 certifications, and installations for various applications where WIM is used for high accuracy applications such as direct enforcement research, toll by weight, pre-selection and ports. As part of the assembly, Peterson took the opportunity to brief the audience on the upcoming ICWIM8 meeting in Prague in 2019 which showcases WIM industry developments.
Attendees included road administration officials from over fifteen provinces responsible for policy, standards and oversight for WIM used for enforcement and toll by weight. Other speakers included the Director for Law Enforcement Office for Overloaded Vehicles, Deputy Directors of Highway Management Service Center and the Highway Administration Bureau of Hubei, and the Vice-Director of the Research Center of China Highway Association.
At the conclusion of the conference, the visitors visited a full functioning WIM site using three rows of sensors combined with ANPR and video cameras used by local provincial law enforcement for overload enforcement. The Intercomp strain gauge sensor is approved for use by China National Quality Supervision and Inspection Center of Weighing Instruments.
